SouthPark Physical Therapy is excited to announce that we have partnered with MojoFeet to provide our patients with orthotics! We offer both prefabricated and custom options.
Who can benefit from orthotics? Do you have pain in your feet, knees, hips or back with standing, walking or running? Like many people, you will benefit from orthotics to prevent or relieve the pain that may occur with being on your feet.
How can orthotics help? The foot is the structure through which all ground reaction forces are transmitted. If your foot is not able to efficiently transfer the downward momentum into forward momentum, increased stress is placed on our body from the foot all the way up to the spine.
What is the difference between prefabricated and custom orthotics? How do I choose which type I need? Prefabricated orthotics offer perfectly symmetrical and uniform support at a great price. If necessary, they can be heated to improve fit and comfort. Custom orthotics are made from a foam casting of your foot to allow the best possible support for your specific foot. They can be fabricated to fit in a variety of shoes, from dress shoes to sneakers.
What is the custom orthotic process? The foot is foam casted in a corrected position, applying a corrective full-contact force. This position maximizes the potential energy of the foot. The goal of the orthotic is to support foot movement from the starting position and to control pronation through a functional range. This maximizes the efficiency of the foot and minimizes pathological forces, which lead to pain and injury.
What makes MojoFeet different than other orthotic companies? They believe strong, active feet are the foundation for a strong, active body. Their goal is to help people move more and move better and their custom orthotics are unique for each foot. Orthotics are manufactured from raw materials, not from premade templates. Also, MojoFeet believes in giving back to the community. A portion from every orthotic made is donated to charity!
The physical therapists at SouthPark Physical Therapy are trained and experienced in gait evaluation, foot structure and casting methods. We use this process to provide the best orthotic for you. Call us today to set up an appointment!
