What is Pilates?
Pilates is an exercise system that is focused on building strength without bulk, improving flexibility and agility, and helping to prevent injury. It was developed in the 1920s by Joseph H. Pilates, who was a physical trainer and founder of The New York Pilates Studio®. It involves a series of controlled movements that engage both your body and mind. Pilates utilizes specifically designed exercise apparatus and is supervised by highly trained teachers. It was initially created for rehabilitation, but was later adopted by dancers and athletes and is now utilized by millions.
The primary focus is on awareness of the spine, proper breathing, core strength and flexibility. The outcome of Pilates training is a balanced body which is strong and supple, flat stomach, balanced legs, and a strong back.

What are your Pilates classes like?
Our contemporary approach is steeped in the six traditional Pilates Principles: centering, concentration, control, precision, breath and flow, These principles combined with our knowledge of anatomy, physiology, body mechanics and injury serve to surpass the results of a conventional exercise class. During the sessions the reformer, Cadillac, wunda chair, BOSU, foam roll and gym balls are used to optimize the Pilates experience.
We have multiple ways to get the most out of your Pilates experience:
- Introductory class- If you have not had the opportunity to do Pilates, we will do a one hour personal class to get you familiar with the equipment and exercises at no charge.
- Open Classes –Small classes, typically 3-6 people. No commitment and very affordable. $22 per class, or $195 for a Flex Card (10 classes).
- Personalized Pilates Lesson- This is all about you!! Choose your instructor, choose your small group or solo session. Set or change your time weekly. Limit 2 to a class, $75 per class.
- Pilates package - 5 private sessions and 1 Flex Card (10 classes) for $455
